Role: Reporting to a partner, the Quantity Surveyor will play an important role in the delivery of Residential, Commercial and Retail projects, maintaining strong relationships with clients. Working as part of a team, or on an individual basis, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be expected to have the ability to take full responsibility for the total cost management of projects. Based in our Basildon office, the Quantity Surveyor will manage projects both in the Basildon area and in the Greater London area. The role would suit an individual who is Essex based, currently working in London who would prefer to cut down on commuting, whilst still retaining involvement in London projects. Responsibilities: Full cost planning of projects Produce tender documentation To take a leading role in setting team objectives and priorities, working as a proactive team player. To oversee the commercial management of projects. To plan and control projects through to completion. To create a team environment in which everyone is committed to producing a quality outcome. To gain the confidence of the client and become the focal point for communication. To participate in the management of a business unit and to assist in the development of the people for whom you are responsible. Effective communication ensuring all information is available for the successful completion of projects, to liase with other managers to ensure efficient financial control resulting in projects being cost effective. Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner, meeting, negotiating and corresponding with clients forming a strong working relationship in true partnership. To liase with other managers to ensure consistency of service delivery and to identify opportunities for developing both the quality and profitability of the service. To ensure that control procedures are in place and adhered to in all areas of the business. To ensure that senior management have quality information on the progress of each project on a regular basis. Skills Required An energetic and motivated professional with natural drive and innovative flair. A tenacious individual who asks questions, listens to answers, defines problems and implements change. A perceptive individual who, through a natural diplomacy, can influence people in a changing environment. Commercially aware and financially astute individual who can identify the key issues and set suitable benchmarks. A team builder who can develop and maintain good relationships and gain the confidence of other professionals both within the Company and outside. The ability to advise and guide colleagues in a supportive, interactive fashion ensuring that programmes are agreed, targets set and deadlines achieved. Experience RICS qualified Quantity Surveyor with 5+ years post qualification experience A strong track record in Cost Management, showing a progressive career path. Experience of controlling quality complex projects. An in-depth knowledge of different construction processes. A forward-thinking approach to the management of clients and projects. Experience of managing clients, able to take responsibility for projects, chair meetings etc Experience must be gained in Professional practice or consultancy environment
