Job Description Role: Reporting to an Associate, the Quantity Surveyor will play an important role in the delivery of fast track retail projects and maintaining strong working relationships with the client. Working as part of the team or on an individual basis the Surveyor will be expected to take full responsibility for the total cost management of projects. The Challenges Managing the broader implications of a project in order to achieve the best deal for the client. To develop the success of the projects through clear strategy and proactive commitment. Responsible for the managing the clients expectations in a competitive environment. Responsibilities: To take a leading role in setting team objectives and priorities, working as a proactive team player. To oversee the commercial management of projects To plan and control projects through to completion To create a team environment in which everyone is committed to producing a quality outcome To gain confidence of the client and become the focal point for communication To participate in the management of a business unit and to assist the development of the people for whom you are responsible Effective communications ensuring all information is available for the successful completion of projects, to liaise with other managers to ensure efficient financial control resulting in projects being cost effective Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner, meeting, negotiating and corresponding with clients forming a strong working relationship in true partnership To liaise with other managers to ensure consistency of service delivery and to identify opportunities for developing both the quality and profitability of the service To ensure that control procedures are in place and adhered to in all areas of the business To ensure that senior management have quality information on the progress of each project on a regular basis Skills Required The successful candidate will have the following background A strong track record in Cost Management, showing a progressive career path Experience of controlling quality complex projects A depth of knowledge of different construction processes A forward-thinking approach to the management of clients and projects An energetic and motivated professional with natural drive and innovative flair A tenacious individual who asks questions, listens to answers, defines problems and implements change A perceptive individual who, through a natural diplomacy, can influence people in changing environment Commercially aware and financially astute individual who can identify the key issues and set suitable benchmarks A clear thinking person demonstrating attention to detail who is well organised and can operate independently under a broad direction A team builder who can develop and maintain good relationships and gain the confidence of other professionals both within the company and outside The ability to advise and guide colleagues in a supportive, interactive fashion ensuring that programmes are agreed, targets set and deadlines achieved A broad thinker who can take a global view and has an inherent ability to ‘get the job done’ Strong IT skills required , Excel, Word, etc Experience 5 years PQE with retail experience desirable together with experience of ‘Partnering’ and Frameworks.
