Our Leeds office is currently looking to expand the Building Surveyor team and have vacancies at Building Surveyor/Senior Building Surveyor level to help assist continual business growth. Our experienced Leeds team of around 25 Building Surveyors provide a full range of building surveying services in all technical aspects of a professional practice, including the proper supervision of subordinates and regular liaison with senior staff to achieve the targets and objectives of the company. You should hold a good Building Surveying degree with 2 years+ post graduate relevant experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for a self starting surveyor seeking to develop a career within a supportive team and a dynamic environment, which supports a general policy of promoting from within. Responsibilities To provide support to the Senior Building Surveying team / Managing Surveyors as required based in the Leeds office, but often with a national remit. To be able to undertake full building surveying duties - professional and project work. To be able to clearly establish a client’s brief and to have the ability to exercise strict job cost control, with help and supervision, through to a robust completion of survey projects. To have an inbuilt awareness of the level of service to be provided to clients to satisfy our company Quality systems and our commitment to the Integrated Management System and ISO 9001. To have a working knowledge and appreciation of the legal background current legal developments in respect of construction and the law. To be committed to the guidance, care, training, and mentoring of subordinate staff Requirements Technical RICS / CIOB newly qualified or nearly qualified with sufficient Building Surveying experience. A good BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying is desirable. A working familiarity with the main core services in building surveying. Ability to produce building contract documents effectively and efficiently. Productive supervision of subordinates including adequate resource planning, monitoring and control. The maturity and knowledge to be able to refer potential problem areas quickly and clearly to a Senior Building Surveyor/ Managing Surveyor Ability to work confidently with the minimum of supervision and on own initiative. The ability to write accurate, confident, and robust reports, with a good grasp of reporting and grammatical skills. Ability to advise clients on cost effective and practical solutions to all matters related to property and facilities. Assisting in identifying potential marketing opportunities and new clients. The Person Strong communications skills – experience of communicating with people at differing levels effectively, face to face, by telephone, and in writing. Strong Planning and Organising skills – able to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and manage change effectively Effective problem resolution skills – solution orientated with the ability to manage problems and complaints assertively Team work and people skills – ability to work with others to achieve team and personal targets and objectives . Additional Information Candidates should have a right to work in UK Driving Licence/level of mobility required in the role.
