Job Summary: To undertake the production of project assignments, converting them into the output of completed products and services, on time, to quality and within budget. To work within and contribute to the project team and support the Project Manager/Architectural Leader. Responsibilities: The Engineer is responsible for ensuring that: 1. Work packages assigned to the Project Architect by the Project Manager/Architectural Leader are managed within agreed cost targets. 2. Work packages assigned to the Project Architect by the Project manager/Architectural Leader are delivered to programme and to quality to ensure the clients requirements are met. 3. Immediately raised any concerns relating to budget, programme, quality, contractual issues and health and safety issues with the Project Manager/Architectural Leader. 4. The scope of work and deliverables are fully understood and agreed with the Project Manager/Architectural Leader. 5. The status of all project deliverables are reported to the Project Manager/Architectural Leader. 6. All requests by the client or third parties for additional work or variations are communicated to the Project Manager/Architectural Leader whose agreement must be sought prior to proceeding with the change. 7. The appropriate project procedures are followed in accordance with the Quality Management System from Project Award through to Project Close Out. 8. Liaise with the project team on a day to day basis, to ensure the clients requirements are addressed and information is properly co-ordinated between the various design disciplines. 9. The company Health & Safety procedures are implemented and adhered to throughout the project. 10. The management are made aware of any possible future claims against the company for design default, errors or omissions etc. 11. Any training requirements specific to projects or personnel within your control are raised with the appropriate Head of Department or Departmental Manager. Duties: 1. Review and understand the scope of work, required deliverables, priorities and programme for all work packages assigned. 2. Attend project initiation meetings and other meetings as requested by the Project Manager/Architectural Leader and client. 3. Read and understand the PQP at commencement of the project. 4. Follow project and company procedures and where detailed in the PQP, follow client specific procedures. 5. Ensure standards of design and deliverables are maintained. 6. Preparation and verification of technical designs, reports and specifications. 7. Utilise Technical Manager as required, for technical advice and to improve the efficient and effective supply of products and services. 8. Act in a professional manner at all times to reinforce the image and reputation of the company. 9. Liaise with Head of Department/Departmental manager and/or Personnel Manager regarding any personal or performance issues of personnel under direct supervision. 10. The Project Architect is required to have a clear understanding of the R.I.B.A. Job Book procedures in order to perform the defined duties of an Architect related to the relevant R.I.B.A. work stages. The suitable applicant should have experience of working in the Education sector, or Private Finance Initiatives (PFI) Be willing to travel between Leeds and Manchester on a regular basis.
