My client is one of the UK Construction Industries leading specialist contractors. Our services include the design and installation of roofs, walls, glazing and ancillary products either as stand-alone packages or as part of a complete building envelope solution. Founded in 1993, my client has undertaken numerous high profile and successful projects, which include the prestigious West Quay, Southampton, Festival Place, Basingstoke, Coventry City Stadium, the new Welsh Assembly Hall, Cardiff and Diamond Synchrotron at Harwell, Oxford.
Office/Department
Birmingham is a new Satellite office for my client, situated by junction 6 of the M42. The Birmingham office uses the same state of the art technology and design systems as the rest of my client`s offices and responds quickly to the needs of their clients.
Role
This is an excellent opportunity to learn estimating from a team who are committed to personal and career development. Your development will involve:
Ø attendance at training courses as set out in your training and development plan. This would typically include achievement of the next level of qualification;
Ø developing an understanding of the principles of building design, construction and associated services;
Ø developing an understanding of cladding systems and the materials used;
Ø you will be trained on the Causeway estimating system and my clients way of producing a pricing which is partly computer based and partly drawing led;
Ø liaising with other departments such as buying, quantity surveying, design and site managers;
Ø chasing and requesting outstanding information from clients;
Ø sending faxes, letters and making telephone calls in order to obtain all the information necessary;
Ø photocopying and distributing contractual information to internal departments;
Ø keeping daily timesheet records of contracts worked on for billing purposes;
Ø provide support to the Senior Estimator and all members of the team;
Ø carry out tasks as instructed by the Senior Estimator.
Candidate
You will have a construction related HND or equivalent. Have previous experience ideally in roofing and cladding. The company operates using latest software packages, and you therefore need to be highly computer literate and have adaptable IT skills.
