My client is the leading specialist contractor in the design and installation of the building envelope. They provide the complete building envelope which includes roof, walls, glazing and ancillary products as well the design, supply and installation of each of the elements. Founded in 1988 my client has undertaken numerous high profile and successful projects, which include the prestigious West Quay, Southampton, Festival Place, Basingstoke, Coventry City Stadium, the new Welsh Assembly Hall, Cardiff and diamond Synchrotron at Harwell, Oxford.
My client places a strong emphasis on training and have recently been reaccredited the Investors In People Award. They have also received awards in relation to Health & Safety for their work at BAA Heathrow Airport and other major clients.
Department
My client is currently running a number of prestigious projects in the South and South East. An assistant site manager would work with a project/contracts manager on larger jobs or on smaller jobs could run the site alone.
Role
The main elements of the role are:
· Assist the Project Manager in the day to day running of the site;
· Work with the Project Manager to ensure projects are completed on time and in accord with agreed programmes of work;
· Safeguard the Company`s position by ensuring relevant site events are recorded and reported in writing to the Main Contractor quickly and contractually;
· Support the Project Manager and sub-contractors in the progressing, prompt delivery and ordering of materials;
· Be aware of incurred installation labour costs so that they are in line with estimated costs
· Be aware of attendance and preliminary costs so that they are in line with estimated costs
· Maintain close contact with the main contractor at site level at all stages of the contract
· Ensure all works on site are undertaken in accordance with safe working practices and current health and safety legislation, be constantly vigilant to any actual or potential hazards, and encourage such vigilance among all site personnel;
· Ensure installations are carried out in accordance with the System Company procedures and company working drawings;
· Implement site inspection practices to safeguard good quality installation and finished product;
· Assist in the preparation of method statements, COSHH, Risk Assessments and Quality plans
· Assist with keeping a detailed daily site diary or labour levels, weather , relevant events etc;
· Set an example of the Company`s professional image at all levels of contact, and ensure similar conduct from sub-contractors and supervisors
Candidate
You will be an enthusiastic team member with a willingness to develop your role within a team environment. Candidates will preferably have site management or fixing experience in the cladding, roofing or glazing sector with a stable employment history. Most importantly the role requires someone with initiative who will take ownership for their work and be able to represent the company`s interests in a tactically appropriate way. The successful candidate will have impeccable communication skills as this role will involve extensive communication with site personnel, client and suppliers.
