My client are currently looking for a couple of Rail Electrical Engineers to join their busy team.
They have an immediate vacancy for an Electrical Design Engineer familiar with assessing and designing rail side electrical infrastructure and power supplies.
They will consider permanent or contract staff for these positions.
Role Requirements:
The post duties will include the undertaking of site surveys on Network Rails infrastructure on a national basis, design and specification of sites in accordance with the contract scope, current IEE regulations and Network Rail standards. Due to the nature of the works the candidate will need to hold a valid PTS certificate, ideally also have a valid IWA certificate and a full UK driving licence. In addition to the above the candidate will also need to be competent in the use of standard office software applications and be familiar with AutoCAD.
Main Duties:
Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for visiting LV lineside electrical installations around the country to assess the current electrical capacity available on lineside infrastructure.
You will undertake a combination of one and seven day load monitoring examinations on exisiting electrical supplies and assess the available capacity which may be utilised by new apparatus being installed on the railway.
Determination of the suitability of the lineside supply and /or recommendation for the provision of new DNO supplies.
The load monitoring examinations will culminate in an analysis of the electrical load monitoring results and compilation of written report providing factual information and design solutions.
Skill Requirements:
Minimum ONC or equivalent level qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Formal education and training in electrical engineering with demonstratable experience in the rail sector.
Experienced in the use of load monitoring apparatus and the preparation of Consultancy standard reports.
Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly with the client.
Able to undertake LV electrical design calculations.
Familiar in the use of Amtech.
Must be PTS qualified with a valid Medical and D & A Certificate.
IWA Preferable (but not essential).
Must hold a valid drivers licence.
Capable of working to a programme.
Experience Requirements:
An experienced Electrical Engineer familiar with load monitoring and the preparation of professional engineering reports.
Previous design experience of Rail electrical infrastructure.
